Work related stress is the biggest occupational health problem in the United Kingdom. If stress at work is not controlled both employee and the organisation suffer. Absence through illness, anxiety, unpunctuality, lack of concentration and motivation lead to poor performance and decision making  on the part of the employee which in turn affects the organisation in terms of  reduced performance and productivity, high staff turnover, absenteeism and poor employee morale.

As an experienced practising locum solicitor, I have  had first hand experience of the increasing pressures under which both employees and employers are placed in the modern working environment and how it can  fundamentally affect collective well being at work and at home.

From the research which has been carried out in the workplace, reflexology has been shown to have a beneficial effect on stress management and the physical and psychological wellbeing of employees whose work and personal lives are often inevitably  intertwined. Many companies already employ massage therapists to ease the physical consequences of stress and anxiety at work. However, a holistic approach to stress management attempts to tackle the underlying causes of stress by addressing the individual’s physical, psychological and social factors, rather than treating symptoms alone. With the focus on prevention rather than cure, therapists may advise and support lifestyle and dietary changes to help promote and maintain good health in the long term, thereby maximising the individual’s capacity for self healing.

A practitioner’s requirements would simply be a warm, quiet and well lit room. Treatments in the workplace would generally be confined approximately 20-25 minutes to ensure that the worker is not so relaxed that it adversely affects productivity during the rest of the day for all the wrong reasons! Many will find that a series of treatments is particularly beneficial for their overall wellbeing within and outside the workplace

If the employer is fully subsidising treatments for a half day or full day, the price would be based on four treatments per half day ( £140 / £280) plus a charge for travelling expenses dependng upon the location.

Where the employer is part subsidising the costs of treatments, the charge per employee would be adjusted accordingly.

Normal charges for a full individual  treatment are £35 ( approx 1 hour) or £20 for an abbreviated treatment (approx 30 mins)
